Essential to Democracy
Marginalized people are the ones who remind us of the benefits of democracy and self-governance. Those who do not have all the “blessings of liberty” are the ones thirsting for it.
Wisconsin is not doing enough to make sure people with disabilities are part of civic discourse and civic engagement.
Mission
Disability Justice means a commitment to advancing equity, inclusion, diversity, access, and political power. Disabilities touch the lives of people in every demographic sector of our population. It makes no difference what age, religion, gender, gender identity, skin shade, poverty, wealth, national origin, or other things make us different and interesting human beings.
Working for disability justice needs every one of us.
The best celebration is action. Ask your elected officials how many people with disabilities are members of City, County, or State commissions. We need the voices of people with all kinds of disabilities. DEIA means disabilities too.

Disability Justice is a nonprofit public policy organization. We are committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access. Social justice requires all 4. We are committed to a robust, inclusive democracy. Inclusion and Access will be normalized.
We aim to close the gap between the promise of the Americans with Disabilities Act and its implementation.
Democracy is as strong as the people who want it: the most vulnerable, the strongest, and those in between.
